Apply to become an EBCS coach

The Level 1 qualification is where every EBCS coach starts. Read the terms below, tell us about yourself, and pay the £80.00 application fee — EBCS then allocates you a Trainer.

What it costs

  • £80.00 application fee, paid now. This covers your place on the course, your Trainer and your assessment.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Rink or green fees are not included. Your coaching takes place at a bowls club, and any rink, green or session fee the club charges is paid by you directly to that club.
  • If you are not successful first time, EBCS discusses the next steps with your Assessor and Trainer. You do not pay the application fee again.
  • Once you qualify, EBCS membership is a separate £10.00 a year, which you pay when you register as a coach.

What EBCS provides

  • A qualified EBCS Trainer, allocated to you by the Society, who contacts you to arrange your coaching.
  • An independent Assessor, allocated separately, who carries out your assessment.
  • Your certificate on passing, and access to the members' area and its resources once you register.

What you agree to

  • To attend the coaching sessions arranged with your Trainer, and to tell them promptly if you cannot.
  • To conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the standards of the Society and the etiquette of the game.
  • That EBCS may hold and process the details you give here for the purpose of administering your application, and may share them with the Trainer and Assessor allocated to you.
  • That safeguarding and DBS requirements apply to coaches working with under-18s and adults at risk, and that EBCS will ask you about these when you register as a coach.

Your Trainer and Assessor both need to be able to reach you, so please make sure your email and phone number are right.

If there is an EBCS Trainer you would like to train with — perhaps someone at your club — tell us their name. EBCS will try to arrange it, but cannot guarantee it.
