EBCS is a national society for lawn bowls coaching. We set the standards for our coaching qualifications, support coaches at every level, and provide the tools, training, and resources needed to help the sport grow across England.

EBCS offers a structured pathway from introductory to advanced coaching, with nationally recognised qualifications at each stage.
The foundation of your coaching journey. Introduces core principles, safety, and basic skill delivery for new coaches working alongside experienced practitioners.
A standalone coaching qualification enabling independent delivery of coaching sessions. Covers planning, analysis, and developing players across different contexts.
Advanced coaching for experienced practitioners. Focuses on high-performance techniques, mentoring, and developing coaching excellence across county and national levels.
Four steps, from first enquiry to qualified coach. EBCS allocates your Trainer and your Assessor — you are never left to find them yourself.
Apply online and pay the one-off £80 application fee. You will be given a reference straight away.
EBCS allocates you a Trainer. They contact you directly to arrange your coaching, and EBCS sends them the course manuals for your level.
When your Trainer confirms you are ready, an independent Assessor is allocated to carry out your assessment.
On passing, you register as a member of the Society. Once EBCS confirms your registration, your certificate is emailed to you.
Earn EBCS coaching certificates recognised across England's lawn bowls community, valid for the full membership year.

The new EBCS coaching top is here. Registered coaches can now order it through the website at an introductory price of £20 including UK postage, for the first 500 tops or until 1 January 2027.
Before EBCS can restart Level 1 and Level 2 coach training, we need teams of Trainers and Assessors in every county. If you are a Level 2 or Level 3 coach, please volunteer through My Profile.
