The national coaching body for lawn bowls in England since our founding — setting standards, developing coaches, and growing the sport.
The English Bowls Coaching Society (EBCS) is the national body responsible for coaching standards, qualifications, and development in lawn bowls across England. We work in partnership with Bowls England, county associations, and clubs to ensure that coaching is accessible, professional, and recognised.
Our mission is to develop a thriving coaching community that supports players at every stage of their journey — from recreational bowlers discovering the game to competitive players aiming for national honours.
We award and administer Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 coaching qualifications, setting the national standard for competence and practice.
We maintain up-to-date records of DBS checks and safeguarding certificates for all active members, ensuring a safe environment for players of all ages.
We accredit and support a national network of Trainers who deliver coaching courses on our behalf, connecting aspiring coaches with experienced practitioners.
Members have access to coaching manuals, session plans, assessment papers, and guidelines — all kept current and relevant to the modern game.
EBCS is governed by an elected executive committee responsible for setting strategy, standards, and representing coaches nationally.
Executive committee details will be added here by the EBCS administrator.
